The way I see it, the Joestars were finally free of the Joestar curse and were able to have long and happy lifes, the new Jonathan probably raised his son. Even Irene probably had a happy childhood with his father. So part 6 wasn't pointless, the Joestars finally could win over destiny and have the lifes they deserved.
